Tomorrow at 5:00 am, I will be leaving for this road... And, hopefully, within two days, I will be actually traveling on this road, heading for my next project. I will be doing a feasibility study, to determine the potential for a rehabilitation program in a small village, in this remote area. It just so happens that there are 74 people in this and neighboring areas, at 3500 meters (11,482 feet) elevation, who have been affected by leprosy, and they need a little help. Are there enough people at the 7-bed hospital who want specialized training? Can the leprosy-affected people travel to the small hospital? Can medical supplies be brought in on a regular basis (outside of the 30 kilos that I am taking?) Are the roads passible year-round? Can a sustainable rehab program be developed out here?... And hundreds of other questions that need to be answered over the next two months. I know that your wish for me is, 一路平安 (Yi Lu Ping An) -- "Travel safely on the road!"
